Instructor Programs

US Powerboating offers instructor training in two different areas, Sport Powerboat and Cruising Powerboat.

Sport Powerboat Instructor

An intensive 3-day course for advanced powerboat operators in powerboats 26 feet and under.  The instructor candidate will learn the fundamentals of on-the-water instruction. Candidates must successfully demonstrate superior presentation, teaching, and powerboat operation skills in order to complete this course. Upon graduation, instructors will be eligible to teach the Safe Powerboat Handling course.

Cruising Powerboat Instructor

This is a three-day evaluative course for experienced instructors.  Most of the time will be spent on the water demonstrating and critiquing boathandling maneuvers, and demonstrating and discussing teaching techniques applicable to single and twin-screw cruising powerboats over 26 feet in length.
