- The Rules presented in this program are an overview of summarized
versions of the Inland Navigation Rules.
- This program should not be considered a substitute for a complete
version of the entire Inland Navigation Rules.
- The summarized rules in this program could be interpreted differently
than the complete rules of the Inland Navigation Rules.

- Vessels 12 meters (39.4 feet) or more shall carry a power whistle or power
horn and a bell.

- Vessels less than 12 meters (39.4 feet) shall carry a “means of making
an efficient sound signal.”

- Short Blast - a blast of about 1 second

- Leave the other boat

- A vessel less than 12 meters is not obliged to give these restricted
visibility signals but shall make some other efficient sound signal at
least every 2 minutes.

- If necessary to attract attention of another vessel, sound or light
signals may be made that cannot be mistaken for signals authorized by
these rules.

- When a vessel is in distress and requires assistance she shall use or
exhibit the signals in Annex IV of the rules.
